Third Sector Partnership for Emotional Wellbeing
The BME Health Forum has formed a partnership with Ethiopian Women’s Empowerment Group, Healthier Life for You, Migrants and Refugees Communities Forum, Queens Park Bangladeshi Association and SMART to improve emotional wellbeing. The partnership is funded by a West London CCG grant.
Each organisation is delivering a project which they think improves the clients’ emotional wellbeing. The projects are:
- The Ethiopian Women’s Empowerment Group run a project where multilingual volunteers offer emotional support to others in their community who are going through a hard time, in their own language (Arabic, Tigrinya, French or English).
-
Healthier Life 4 You are running Group Gym classes with a personal trainer for local residents (all age groups welcome) at St Charles Gym (St Charles Centre for Health & Wellbeing).
- The Migrants and refugees Communities Forum run a mentoring programme for migrants and refugees.
- Queens Park Bangladesh Association run an exercise class for Bangladeshi women.
- SMART run a service user led entertainment night for mental health service users.
During the course of the partnership (September 2015-August 2016) the organisations will collect feedback from their clients when they first start taking part in their activity and after 3 months (or the end of the activity) so that we can measure whether their emotional wellbeing has improved during that time. They will also collect feedback from service users about what they think would improve their emotional wellbeing. We are also running an issue log of issues relating to people accessing mental health services which we raise with commissioners as they come.
We have put together a report of the findings from this project. Click Here to download it.
