Join textile designer Ashanti Farquhar for this immersive 4-hour #weaving workshop and create your own unique woven fabric to take home.
London can be a fast-paced city, and the therapeutic, repetitive rhythm of weaving offers a chance to slow down, be mindful, and reconnect with your creativity. Spend the afternoon discovering the art of the frame loom and exploring the calming, creative possibilities of this traditional craft.
During the workshop, you will learn:
- How to set up a loom
- The difference between warp and weft
- Basic weaving techniques
- How to work with different yarn fibres
Whether you’re making a thoughtful gift for someone special or treating yourself, this workshop is perfect for beginners and open to all.
Ashanti will guide you every step of the way — from choosing your yarn to carefully removing your finished piece from the loom. She will provide expert advice and support throughout the session.
All materials are provided. However, if you’d like to add a personal touch, you’re welcome to bring your own fabric scraps or special yarns to incorporate into your piece. You’ll also receive a digital information sheets so you can continue your weaving journey.
By the end of the session, you’ll have gained practical knowledge of hand-woven textiles and leave feeling calm, accomplished, and proud of creating your own fabric from scratch.
