Free/Funded Event for Black Women living with diabetes and in menopause (17/24/31st Jan)
Overview
A Health & Wellbeing Programme for Black Women in Menopause with Pre-Diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes.
A 3-Workshop Wellness Series for Black Women: Menopause, Diabetes & Thriving Health
This three-part workshop series is designed to be taken as a complete programme, guiding you step-by-step through understanding menopause and diabetes, nourishing your body, and managing stress with culturally grounded tools. Please note that this is a 3-workshop series, designed to be experienced as a full programme rather than standalone sessions.
Research shows that Black women are at higher risk of earlier menopause, diabetes, and stress-related health challenges shaped by systemic inequalities. This series provides a safe, culturally relevant and joyful space to learn, connect, and reclaim your wellbeing.
Through accessible health education, practical nutrition guidance, and creative stress-management practices, you’ll gain a clearer understanding of how menopause and diabetes interact—along with sustainable lifestyle strategies to support your long-term health. Each session includes personalised goal-setting to help you maintain positive changes in diet, activity, and stress levels.
What’s Included in the 3-Week Series:
- Week 1 – Understanding the Basics Menopause, diabetes, and their impact on Black women’s health
- Week 2 – Food, Culture & Nutrition Ingredient swaps, meal planning, and Afro-Caribbean–inspired recipes
- Week 3 – Stress & Self-Care Mindfulness tools and a wellbeing vision-board creation session
This project is supported through the LTC Small Grants Programme for Black and South Asian-led organisations in Waltham Forest.
