Health Mission for London: Paid research opportunity

GLA_logo.pngHealth Mission for London: Invitation for Community Group participation:

The GLA is working in partnership with London Councils and the NHS to deliver a Health Mission for London focussed on reducing health inequalities by using London's innovation and digital transformation opportunities. The Health Mission will achieve this by improving digital inclusion and health literacy and identifying areas/demographic groups with the biggest opportunity to reduce inequality. A key part of the Mission is to identify communities most affected by barriers to digital inclusion, and individual and organisational health literacy.

Research and community insights work has commenced for the project, undertaken by Demos. Initial scoping research has identified six particular at-risk groups in specific boroughs (Londoners who are 65+, homeless, migrants, on a low income, vision impaired, or have a learning disability).

For migrant communities, research has highlighted the priority boroughs of Brent, Newham, Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, and Harrow. Demos are now looking to engage with community groups based in these priority boroughs, and we would like to extend this opportunity to MSAP membership.

What this work would involve:

  • Identifying 8-10 people they work with who could take part in the research
  • Helping to work out the best way to enable these participants to record their interactions with health services over a period of about two weeks so we can learn more about what works well and where things could be improved
  • Helping to design two workshops with us so that it works for their participants to be able to discuss their experiences and ideas
  • Supporting participants to attend the workshop
  • Taking part in a 1-2-1 interview so Demos can get their perspective on the issues around health inequality and digital exclusion

Demos are able to pay £2,700 to community groups for their time and support. They will also be paying participants for their time.

Interested groups should contact nicola.stokes@demos.co.uk as soon as possible to express interest.
