Imperial BRC: Opportunities to get involved- Biomedical Engineering theme

Join the Imperial Biomedical Research Centre as a Community Partner and help shape healthcare research into medical devices and technologies (Biomedical Engineering theme).
Who are we looking for?
Anyone aged 18 or over who lives, studies, or receives care in North West London and who has experience as a patient, or members of the public using or benefiting from medical technologies. This may include experience with:
- Surgery of any type
- Implants, such as joint replacements or pacemakers
- Medical imaging (including X ray, MRI, Ultrasound) and other diagnostic tools (including blood tests)
Wearable smart devices (e.g. Apple Watch).
You do not need technical or research expertise.
What is involved?
The role will require up to 15 hours of your time until May 2027 with the possibility of extension.
Community Partners are paid £27.50 per hour for their time, plus reasonable expenses for public involvement opportunities.

2. Would you like to give your views on a project aiming to improve pain, comfort and mobility for people with leg amputation?
The researchers from Imperial College London are applying for NIHR funding to develop a new implant designed to address pain and discomfort caused by current prosthetic sockets.
Who are they looking for?
Anyone aged 18 or over who:
Has lived experience of lower limb amputation (above or below knee) due to trauma, vascular-related diseases, cancer or any other causes.
Currently uses a prosthesis, or has experience of trying to use one.
What is involved?
You would be invited to take part in a 1.5-hour workshop, either online (via Teams or Zoom) or in person at Imperial College London, White City Campus, depending on your preference.
