IWD conference: Our Lives Are Not Border Policy – Join MEWSo on 9th March

​At MEWSo, we see every day how the systems meant to provide safety can often do the exact opposite for the women we support. This International Women’s Day, we want to move beyond the usual celebrations and have a real, honest conversation about the systemic barriers (from housing to immigration control) that migrant and refugee women face in the UK today.

​I’m writing to invite you to our online conference: "Our Lives Are Not Border Policy: Migrant Women, Systems of Harm, and Collective Resistance".

​Why we’re gathering:

• ​Centring Lived Experience: We’re bringing together survivors, activists, and researchers to talk about how immigration status directly impacts a woman's ability to stay safe from abuse.
• ​Understanding the Harm: We’ll be looking at how current policies can intensify trauma and create barriers for those simply trying to seek help.
• ​Celebrating Resistance: Most importantly, this isn't just about the struggle. We want to highlight the incredible resilience of these women and share the community-led responses that are successfully fighting for dignity and rights.
