Digital_Poverty_Alliance_logo.pngLaptops available for young people in Westminster

We would like to let you know of an opportunity to request a laptop for young people child if families cannot afford one. The Digital Poverty Alliance (DPA) is a charity working in partnership with WCIT, and we have launched the Tech4Youth Programmeproviding a free laptop to keep, and support with digital skills for young people aged 11-19 in Westminster, eligible postcodes are listed on our website.

Please share this with your network, and encourage families or young people to apply.

Many young people are unable to stay connected and engage in their education and careers search. Without access to the right technology, they can be left behind, unable to fully participate in school, or apply for jobs. This programme is designed to change that by offering:

  • Refurbished laptops designed for educational purposes to keep.
  • Six months of data for households without WiFi to ensure reliable connectivity.
  • Digital skills training, specifically tailored for young people.
  • Online safety resources to protect them as they navigate the digital world.

This initiative not only provides the technology but also equips young people with skills they need to thrive in their education and beyond.

Applications are open, but spaces are limited. More details, and the online application form can be found here. The paper application form can be printed off and sent to us by post, or send a photo to tech4youth@digitalpovertyalliance.org. Alternatively, text 07984 445476 with the keyword T4Y, your name, street address, and postcode to request a paper application form by post.

Applying is simple. The form will ask a few basic questions to determine eligibility, and then a trusted community member – such as a teacher or councillor, who is unrelated to the young person – will need to confirm that you or your child would benefit from receiving a laptop. This process helps ensure that support reaches those who need it most. To qualify, applicants must be aged 11-19 and either have a parent or caregiver apply on their behalf, or apply directly if aged 16-19. You must not currently have access to a suitable device at home.
