The SAEB Self-Neglect and Hoarding Strategy and accompanying Hoarding Toolkit are now live published on the SAEB website on this page here.

Quick links below and documents attached for ease.

SAEB Self-Neglect and Hoarding Strategy and Pathway - This document sets out the SAEB’s multi-agency strategy and guidance for working with people who are experiencing self-neglect and hoarding.

SAEB Hoarding Toolkit - This toolkit accompanies the SAEB Self-Neglect and Hoarding Strategy and Pathway

An overarching objective of this strategy is to support a consistent and collaborative multi-agency approach to supporting adults who are experiencing self-neglect and hoarding and to work alongside individual agencies own policies and procedures for self-neglect and hoarding.  Please can you ensure these documents are disseminated widely within your organisations and is used to support strengthening current ways of working and to inform training developments.

To support the launch and implantation of the new strategy the SAEB will be planning a series of webinars including a joint event with Merton and Sutton SAEBs as part of National Safeguarding Adults Awareness Week in November 2025 and a workshop towards the end of this year, as part of the Mental Health Learning Programme, on Hoarding as a Mental Health disorder.  Further information about these sessions will follow in due course.
