London_Boroughs_Faith_Network_logo.jpgThe London Boroughs Faiths Network (LBFN) brings faith and belief communities together so they are seen, heard and part of shaping a fairer, safer and more connected London.

Welcome to the November 2026 edition of the LBFN Newsletter.

This is one of the most important months for LBFN, and for faith communities in general, as we prepare for the upcoming Inter Faith Week celebrations.

November also marks the beginning of our Community Resilience Training courses for South West and North Central London. Keep an eye on our social media over the coming month for updates about the training.

On top of these things, we also have Remembrance Day on November 11 and Mitzvah Day on November 22. To those observing these days, we wish you the best. Please read on for more updates from us and our partners.

Inter Faith Week 2026 happens on November 8 - 15. Celebrating diversity and togetherness, Inter Faith Week is a reminder that respect and inter-cultural and inter-faith friendship is not only possible, but thriving.

Interaction between faiths is truly celebrated during Inter Faith Week, but it’s worth remembering that inter faith activity still happens on every day of the year!

There are countless events happening throughout the country, far too many to list here. We have created a list of Inter Faith Week events specifically for London, a true hotspot of diversity!

Click the button below to see our list. If you know of other events that aren’t on the list, please let us know at comms@lbfn.org.uk!

Quarterly Meeting (September 2026): Counter Terrorism

At our September quarterly meeting, held alongside the London Communities Emergencies Partnership, we brought together community leaders, faith groups, and representatives from the Metropolitan Police to focus on counter-terrorism, awareness, and organisational preparedness.

Read our blog about the session via the button below.

Some key insights shared by Counter Terrorism Policing included:

  • Strategic Threat Overview: The lines between hate crime, extremism, and terrorism are shifting, emphasising the power of trust, early reporting, and community resilience.

  • Practical Safety Guidance:  Actionable steps for organisational security, from addressing minor physical vulnerabilities (like CCTV maintenance and entry security) to staying mindful of oversharing operational details online.

  • Preparedness & Planning: Simple, proactive measures such as reviewing emergency plans, assigning clear roles, and maintaining technology dependencies—go a long way in keeping faith spaces and local hubs safe.

London’s greatest strength lies in the strong partnerships built between public agencies, faith organisations, and local voluntary groups. Thank you to everyone who came along, and look out for our next quarterly meeting!

Our Changing Political Landscape

London’s political map is rewriting itself.

From shifting demographics to emerging political movements reshaping local dynamics, the capital is experiencing a period of transformation unlike anything we've seen in recent years.

What does this mean for communities, policy, and the future governance of our city?

In this blog, we dive deep into London’s Changing Political Landscape, breaking down the key trends and what professionals and community leaders should be watching out for. This blog was inspired by a meeting with Borough Faith Forums and the London Resilience Faith & Belief Sector Panel Executive Team.

Risk and Capability Workshop: Making London's Emergency Planning Work for Communities

Emergency planning often focuses heavily on systems, infrastructure, and top-down response models. But when a crisis hits, who are the true first responders? More often than not, it’s our neighbours and local community networks.

At the recent partnerships Risk and Capability Workshop, we learned that building a more connected, human-centred resilience system relies on several vital pillars. To find out what these are, read our blog below!

EP: Live

The Voluntary and Community Sector Emergencies Partnership (VCSEP) recently held a brilliant, in-person event focused on Emergency Planning.

The event highlighted a key lesson for emergency planning: true resilience relies on the strength of our community networks. Systems and plans matter, but human connection and trust are what make emergency response succeed.

Read our key takeaways from the event in this blog.

Preparing London for a more Complex Future

"resilience is increasingly a shared endeavour"

London is entering a new era of resilience where multiple challenges are likely to happen at the same time, last longer, and place greater demands on services and communities alike.
