Update on Adult Community Specialist Palliative Care – March 2026

NWL_ICS.jpgNHS North West London ICB have published their fourth update on adult community specialist palliative and end‑of‑life care in north west London.

As with the previous updates, this sets out progress in delivering the new, more consistent model of care developed through engagement and consultation. This update focuses more clearly on delivery and implementation, building on what was shared before.

What’s new in this update includes:

  • clearer detail on progress since the last update, particularly around workforce recruitment and service expansion
  • an update on work to develop a single 24/7 telephone advice line, including how this will operate through NHS 111
  • further information on co‑design work with communities to improve access and reduce inequalities
  • an overview of recent partner workshops to shape plans for enhanced end‑of‑life care beds and resolve operational issues.

Earlier updates focused mainly on the case for change, the agreed model of care and the start of phased implementation. This update marks a shift towards practical delivery, service readiness and what this means in practice for patients, families and professionals.
