Update on Compassionate care for all: Adult community specialist care in north west London

NHS North West London has published a new update about the improvements being made to adult specialist palliative and end‑of‑life care across north west London. The update explains what has already changed, what support is now in place, and what further improvements people can expect over the next two years.
The update highlights:
- Better access to care: Several boroughs now have specialist community palliative care teams working 8am–8pm, seven days a week, so people can get help more quickly and more often.
- Stronger Hospice at Home services: More people can now receive 24/7 care at home when they need it.
- Improved outpatient support: Services such as lymphoedema clinics, bereavement support and psychology are now more widely available.
- What’s coming next:
- extended service hours going live in more boroughs during 2026
- a new Hospice at Home offer for Ealing and Hounslow
- planning for new Enhanced End‑of‑Life Care beds in every borough, with resident engagement starting from April 2026
- a stronger workforce, clearer information for families, wider use of Universal Care Plans, and a single 24/7 advice line launching in September 2026
The update also acknowledges that communication during and after the Compassionate care ror all consultation has not always been as clear or consistent as people would expect. This is the start of a more open, regular approach to sharing progress.
