Volunteer support for Disabled people attending Charing Cross Hospital

Please find details of a new volunteer support service for Disabled residents attending appointments at Charing Cross Hospital. The service is open to any Disabled person who may benefit from practical support during their visit; they do not need to be an Action on Disability client.

The service and request form were co-produced by Action on Disability, Disabled residents and the NHS volunteer team to ensure that the support reflects Disabled people’s experiences and needs.

Volunteers can provide practical assistance, including helping people navigate the hospital and find the correct department. Support is available:

• Monday to Friday, 9.30am–4.30pm
• Saturday, 10.00am–12.00pm

Requests should ideally be submitted at least one week before the appointment. The volunteering team will confirm by email whether a volunteer is available. Although they will always try to provide support, this cannot be guaranteed.
