WEBINAR: Designing a Career That Works for You (14.10.26) PLUS more Updates from Communicate

Please have a read through the latest update from Communicate where you will find information on:

Here are career decisions we can spend a very long time circling.

The promotion you’re not sure you actually want.
The pivot you keep thinking about.
The business idea you haven’t acted on.
The feeling that your career looks good on paper, but doesn’t quite fit the life you want.

Sometimes the difficult part isn’t knowing that something needs to change. It’s working out what you actually want to change, and having the confidence to act on it.

That’s where we’re starting.

How Women Over 40 Get a Job After Redundancy

We’ve been speaking to talented, experienced women who have found themselves navigating redundancy and a very different recruitment market.

Some have secured new roles within weeks. Others have sent hundreds of applications without getting an interview.

So what actually helps?

In this video, we look at some of the things worth focusing on when looking for work today, including identifying your transferable skills, being more targeted in your search, showing your impact in applications, using AI to strengthen rather than replace your approach, and building relationships rather than relying on applications alone.

It also considers some of the additional barriers that can affect women over 40 and Black women, particularly where age, gender and race intersect.

And the conversation around careers doesn’t stop there.

One day. A lot of questions worth asking.

Our theme this year is On Your Terms — The Fulfilment Shift.

Rather than telling you what a successful career should look like, the programme gives you room to think about what your version of success actually requires.

You could spend the day thinking about:

💼 Your career:
What kind of progression actually makes sense? Is it time to pivot? How could AI support where you want to go?

🧘‍♀️ Your wellbeing:
What are you carrying that nobody at work can see? What happens when being the person who keeps everything going starts costing you?

💷 Your money:
What would more financial freedom allow you to do? Could another income stream change your options?

💭 Your confidence:
How much of your decision-making is driven by what you want, and how much by proving you belong?

And there’s more to do between the sessions!

We’re also bringing a range of free stalls, experiences and activations to the day, so you can leave with more than just ideas:

  • Get a professional headshot.

  • Take part in a style assessment.

  • Check in on your health.

  • Explore your options with an insurance strategy session.

  • And discover more practical resources and experiences from our partners.

Every activation is free for attendees!

So you can spend the day moving between conversations, workshops and sessions, while also doing a few things for you that you might normally keep putting off.

And between it all, there’s something just as important: time with other Black women who are asking some of the same questions. 🤎
