‘Your Voice, Your Rights’ - Police Complaints advocates training
About the training
‘Your Voice, Your Rights’ is aimed at equipping frontline professionals with clear and practical knowledge on how to guide and support someone through the police complaints process. We recognise that people from minority backgrounds can feel powerless or unsure of how to challenge treatment they believe was unfair. This training is intended to help you strengthen your advocacy and support for them.
What the session covers
Participants will learn:
- How the police complaints system works and the role of the IOPC
- When and how a complaint can be made
- How to assist someone in raising or progressing a concern
- What rights individuals have throughout the process
The session includes practical guidance, real examples, and space for questions to ensure everyone leaves confident and informed.
The training can be delivered in a format that suits your organisation, lasting between 2 to 4 hours and this can take place:
- At your organisation’s premises, or
- At the IOPC offices in Canary Wharf or Croydon
