British Red Cross Refugees and Befriending Project
The British Red Cross runs four 'Refugees and Befriending Projects' (R'n'B) for young unaccompanied refugees and asylum seekers aged 14-21. Our peer-led befriending projects are facilitated by peer-befrienders and adult volunteers. The weekly sessions provide young refugees with friendly support and life skills as well as the chance to have fun, build confidence and improve their English. We run activities such as cookery, first aid, safety awareness, and healthy lifestyle workshops. We cook and eat a meal together at every session, which is an important social aspect of the project.
There are four RnB Projects in London: Lewisham, Islington, Hammersmith and Croydon.
Lewisham R'n'B Project meets on Mondays 5:30-8 pm
Islington R'n'B Project meets on Tuesdays 5:30-8 pm
Hammersmith R'n'B Project meets on Wednesdays 5:30-8 pm
Croydon R'n'B Project meets on Saturdays 12-3:30 pm
If you would like to refer a young person to us, need more information or would like to receive information material, please do not hesitate to contact me.
