The Healthworks Project is a unique multi- agency health partnership scheme, led by the Dalgarno Trust. The project is supported by a diverse team of Community Development Workers (CDWs) whose time is shared among partner organisations to offer services on areas of health and wellbeing to anyone aged 18 and over and resident in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea (RBKC) with more focus on supporting people from Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities.
HEALTHWORKS√ is designed to:
- help individuals improve their self-reported wellbeing
- help people to increase physical activity levels
- to encourage people to get out of their homes and develop social relationships
- to break down cultural barriers, improve awareness and understanding of locally available services
- to increase the capacity of small organisations, that might not normally receive statutory funding, to deliver Public health outcomes.
We offer a range of services to help the residents of RBKC including:
Physical Activity Session & Motivational Talk: It involves activities such as walking, cycling, tennis, zumba and swimming combined with discussions on the health benefits of physical activity and how to integrate it into everyday life.
Wellbeing Workshop: Supporting and empowering people who are stressed due to work or life changes. The topics include such as confidence building, five steps to mental wellbeing, stress management, depression awareness, communication and social interaction skills.
Self-Empowerment Group: A self-help scheme for people experiencing or are at risk of isolation and loneliness. It gives opportunities for people to choose and organise recurring activities that are aimed to enhance social connections and friendships and minimise feelings of isolation, through activities such as games, music, local visits, reading, drama and music.
Health Improvement Workshop: help people to learn and understand how to effectively prevent or manage health conditions like high blood pressure, cholesterol, cancer and diabetes.
Information & Signposting: we support individuals to access services around health, education and training, debt advice, domestic violence, relationship counselling, benefits/housing advice and immigration issues.
Training and development - We also organise accredited public health training for partners and local residents along with providing exciting volunteering opportunities as a Public Health Champion that may enhance their employment prospects.
