Neighbourhood Doulas - Free Doula Support in the Community
Neighbourhood Doulas – ‘In the Community, For the Community’
Definition of a doula:
A Doula/Birth-Worker provides emotional, informational, and physical support to women/birthing people during the perinatal period (pregnancy, labour/birth and postnatal).

Neighbourhood Doulas provide free doula support for those who have no birth partner, and one or more of the following:
Perinatal / historical mental health, from a racially marginalised community, and/or speaks English as a second language.
Our focus is on prevention and wellbeing as we support women and birthing people who are at risk of harm due to racism, isolation, and digital poverty, which leads to disconnection from healthcare networks.
Our personalised approach optimises healthy birth outcomes, prevents isolation, reduces anxiety/depression, and increases breast feeding rates.
We ensure that our service users are anchored within community services such as children’s centres, Home-Start, and local organisations.
Neighbourhood Doulas have created a doula hub offering free birth education classes, antenatal, birth and postnatal support in North Kensington. This Hub is only available for pregnant North Kensington residents and is funded by the RBKC/Grenfell Health & Wellbeing projects.
