What is SASH Black Women's Group?
The Black Women's Group is a community group which focuses on the well-being of women who identify as Black (whose heritage is grounded in Africa, the Caribbean or of Mixed heritage). The group recognises the racialised experience of Black Women and centres the specific power and struggle that can come from the experience of being from multiple marginalised identities. The group is focused on well-being which encompasses mental health, sexual health, communication, relationships, art, creativity, self-esteem, HIV+ experience, reproductive health among many others.
Who can attend?
If you identify as a Black Women you are welcome in this space! Black meaning that your heritage is either African, Caribbean or you're of mixed heritage. This includes cis and trans women and also gender non-conforming people who feel comfortable centring Black Women's experience. If you are unsure whether this is the right group for you don't hesitate to contact me. The group is for all ages and encourages inter-generational sharing of experience.
What can I expect at the group?
You can expect a friendly and welcoming space which strives to build connection with one another and offer support and advice in a peer led way. We sometimes have facilitate workshops by practitioners, or go on trips or have a loosely themed group. New people are especially welcome!
Can I bring a friend?
Of course, as long as they also identify as a Black Women.
Will there be food and drink?
Light refreshments will be available.
