UCATS (UK Cancer and Transition Service)

UCATS and Macmillan joint logo.pngUCATS (UK Cancer and Transition Service) provides specialist clinical advice and support for trans and gender diverse people affected by cancer, across the UK. It's a partnership between Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support.

A few things worth knowing:

Who it's for: anyone who identifies as trans, non-binary, gender-diverse, or is exploring their gender identity, with a current or past cancer diagnosis, or another hormone-sensitive benign tumour (e.g. meningioma).

What it offers: integration of gender care and cancer care, a review of the evidence relevant to treatment decisions, the option to bring existing care team members into a multidisciplinary discussion, a letter of recommendations, and signposting to things like therapy, psychosexual counselling, and fertility preservation.

What it doesn't do: UCATS doesn't provide gender-affirming care directly. Its role is to make recommendations to the clinicians already involved in someone's care.

How to access it: people can self-refer, or a healthcare professional can refer on their behalf, both via the form at chelwest.nhs.uk/ucats. Anyone who needs support with the form can email chelwest.ucats@nhs.net directly.
